Club Grape Harvest Festival !!!
It is an opportunity that only comes up ONCE A YEAR in September- October when grapes are harvested in the whole of Europe, including Spain.
It is a chance to get out of the city and breathe clean, mountain air and enjoy a relaxing day seeing and doing amazing things with the CANTERBURY ENGLISH FAMILY.
1.Tour of the winery at 10-12 am
2.Car pool to the vineyards of Manolo, the ex-president of the Coop de Vinos of San Martin.
3.Picking grapes in teams of four and five from 12:30 am to 2 pm
4. Drive to the ranch of Juan Carlos (Willy) for Lunch 3pm
5. Willy runs an ecological farm, which we will visit, and you can a basket of vegetables (tomatoes, bell
peppers, onions, pumpkins, egg plant, etc) for 3€ to take home! & Siesta in the fields 4-4:30pm.
6. Local Musician Jam Party: Local musicians will play drums, sing and play flamenco, rumbas, salsa, popular Spanish songs etc. and anyone who wants can grab an instrument and JOIN IN!!!
Date: Saturday, October 2ND, from 8 am to 11:15 pm (arrival back in Madrid).
Meeting Time & Point: Meet at 8 am (bus leaves at 8:30 am sharp) at bus dock (anden) 22, floor (nivel) -2 in the Bus Station in the Intercambiador of Principe Pío, metro Principe Pío, metro lines 6 (grey line) and 10 (dark blue line). Buy your bus ticket on the bus (6,60 € one way). Trip leaders CE & Garcia Lorca Spanish School will be there to meet you. Cost: Transportation: 13,20 € return. Lunch & Renting of Ranch: 15 €. Music Festival: Compliments of Canterbury.
Bus: Bus goes to San Martin de Valdeiglesias, 1:15 mins from Madrid.
1) Warm Clothes: The barbecue and Grape Harvest Music Fiesta is outdoors on a ranch, so bring some warm clothes in case it is chilly.
2) Change of Clothes: Feel free to bring a change of nice clothes for the fiesta.
3) A Cold, Rainy Day: When you get up in the morning, and if you see that it is a wet day, bring a warm jacket, an extra warm sweater, and a change of warm socks and pants and an extra pair of shoes (ie: assume that everything will get wet during the grape picking). If you have rain gear (poncho etc, which you can buy in the Chinese stores very cheaply) and it is raining, bring it. Thefarm has a coveredareaforthe lunch &party
4) A Hot Sunny Day: Sunscreen, shades, a hat and a bottle of water (there is no water out in the fields).
Even if it is a nice day, you should bring at least a light jacket, in case it gets cold in the evening. Don’t forget to bring your camera for some unforgettable shots (Your family and friends won’t forgive you if you don’t!).
