Follow these steps to apply for our programs

    You need:

To be at least 21 years old.*

To be a native English or a bilingual English speaker.

To have a degree or the equivalent in verifiable work experience*

*Exceptions are made, please email us about your situation.

    Application Process:

Step One: Email us for info

Email Richard (infotefl@canterburyenglish.com) and he will send you the information you need to decide if this is for you or fill out the inquiry form with any questions you might have.

    Step Two: Fill out Application

After you have read the information and are familiar with our organization and you are interested, you can fill out the application form. We need this to review your eligibility and find out more about you. This will help us advise you better about the program that is best for you.

Step Three: Application Decision (50% Complete)

    1) After you have completed your application and sent it to us, we will review your application and a decision will be made.

    – We will usually review your application the day you send it and make a decision the same working day.

    – If we haven’t responded to you within 3 days, just in case, please send us a reminder email.

    – We always respond to everybody who applies.

    2) If the decision is positive, and you have been pre-approved for the course, then you will receive a pre-acceptance letter and will have completed 50% of the application process and can proceed to step four.

    – You now have 7 days to set up step four, which is the Skype interview.

    – If after 7 days, you have not set up the Skype interview, we assume that you are not interested in continuing the application process and we free up your pre-reserved place in the program for somebody else on the waiting list.

    – Because of the high demand for our TEFL program and our Madrid Lifestyle Programs and the limited number of people we can accept per month, we often have a waiting list for the month that you have reserved, and we need to free the space up for another person.

If you decide to set up the Skype interview after the 7 days have expired, you would need to reapply.

Step Four: Skype Interview (75% Complete)

Now it’s time to set up a Skype interview.

    1) You need to send us your Skype Id. and schedule a time with Richard on Fridays from 4-8 pm Spanish time.

    2) As we have applicants from many different time zones, please just send us the time you can Skype according to the Madrid time zone.

    3) Fridays is Richard’s interview day, however, if you can’t, for any reason, Skype on a Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm Spanish time, please send us a time that you can and he will adapt to your schedule.

During the interview, you can ask Richard all the questions you want and he can find out more about you. Once you are finished with the interview, we will let you know if you have been accepted. If you are, congratulations, you have now completed 75% of the application process for the program that you are interested in.

    Step Five: Payment Instructions

You will receive an acceptance letter, instructions on how to pay the deposit and an invoice with payment details.

Step Six: Deposit Payment (100% Complete)

    1) To finish the application process and secure your place in the program you have chosen, you need to pay the reservation fee a maximum of 7 days after you have had your Skype interview.

    – You will receive this after you successfully pass the Skype interview.

    2) The reservation deposit is 600€ for the Madrid Lifestyle and the One Year Study Abroad Program with TEFL and Spanish.

    – The reservation deposit for the other programs is 300€.

    3) If after 7 days, you have not sent your reservation deposit, we assume that you are not interested in continuing the application process and we free up your pre-reserved place in the program for somebody else on the waiting list.

    – Because of the high demand for our programs and the limited number of people we can accept per month, we often have a waiting list for the month that you have reserved, and we need to free the space up for another person.

If you decide to pay the reservation deposit after the 7 days have expired, you would need to reapply.

Step Seven: Letter for Spanish Consulate (Non-EU)

    1) Once the payment is received, your place is reserved (not until).

    2) In the case that you are Non-EU, we send you a letter for the Spanish Consulate that says you have paid the deposit and that you are eligible for a student visa.

    3) We will also send you all the files and information you need to get your visa, as well as how renew it after a year, if you so wish.

    – Our yearly visa renewal is 600€, but a renewal with other TEFL programs costs 2000 Euros every year and for an Instituto Cervantes Accredited school like ours it is 6.000-7.500€ for a year student visa to study Spanish!

    4) We also send you a welcome e-pack that includes information about the courses, things you will need to bring and accommodation information.

    Step Eight: Remaining Course Payment

The rest of the course fee is paid in euros (we cannot accept foreign currencies) on your Orientation Date.

    – see https://canterburyenglishtefl.com/orientation-dates-info/
